Starting off in the Midwest - Idaho and touring the nation to surprise his concert goers, author-musician-writer Josh Ritter and company bring their rockish-folk-classical jam sounds to Philly for an intimate show that will please the ear for eclectic guitar sounds and rhythms. Great subtley in his words and thoughts, it will surely simmer down your Friday Night Light.

The Tower Theater:
     Headliner: Mark Knopfler
     Opening Act: Pieta Brown
     Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm
     Tix: $39 - $95

Knopfler will never completely shake his identity as the founder of Dire Straits, but he has spent nearly 15 years trying to loosen it or at least make it only a few chapters in a larger story. His shows, will feel as much like a recital as it does a concert starring a former rock star. His song from last year's album,“Get Lucky” CD, has some great sound coming to you live as will “Sailing to Philadelphia,” Backed by a full band whose members' association with Knopfler goes back to those Dire Straits days, the songs on the list seemed arranged with instrumentation fit for a Celtic folk and/or bluegrass band and very enjoyable.

The Keswick Theater:

Their songs are so ingrained in modern culture, it's difficult to go for more than a day or so without hearing one of them on the radio, TV, or a film soundtrack. To date, Tommy's sold over 100 million records and has been awarded 23 gold singles, and nine gold and platinum albums. With this tour, you get the generations of music coupled with a top billing performance from legends in the industry ... treat yourself and be MERRY!!

Johnny Brenda's:
Headliner: Grandchildren, TJ Kong and The Atomic Bomb - Album Release Party
Opening Act: The Chimeras / Skeleton Breath
     Doors: 8pm / Show: 9pm
     Tix: $10

Grandchildren emerged on the Philadelphia and Brooklyn music scene carving out a sonic niche of their unique blend of complex syncopated rhythms, ground shaking backbeats, and sentimental melodies hits all the sweet spots of a post-rock musical experience. Their continuously evolving live show is musical chairs of vocals, samplers, live orchestral drums, interwoven electric and acoustic guitars, blistering horns and warring synths that amount to a sonic powerhouse and a circus-like spectacle. [Kong] is a gifted storyteller -  with his lyrics, he crafts tales of drifters, losers, and drunkards into four-minute epics...Martino’s sparse yet inventive rhythms give the songs lift and pep...All of it makes for an expansive and compelling debut, heralding a promising future for [Kong] and his Bomb.
