  Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm

Stephen Ramsay, the former guitarist of Canadian band STARS, has a new project called Young Galaxy, which Arts & Crafts recently announced signing. Young Galaxy is the work of Ramsay - guitars, vocals partner Catherine McCandless - keyboard, vocals, Max Henry - multi-instrumentalist and James Lynn  - drummer. Their space-age bachelor pad indie-pop sound launched squarely between Broken Social Scene's more ambient, free-floating sounds, and Stars' rocket-fueled melodies. Promoting their recent release, "Invisible Republic", Young Galaxy finds ways to create fantastic and catchy hooks that build into epic crescendos. Their goal is to make you move or make you cry, either or emotions will come about.

North Star Bar
  Headliner: Hey Marseiles
Opening Act: Spinning Leaves / Ravenna Woods
  Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm
  Tix:$10

Their sound - immediate, evocative, mostly acoustic and emotionally driven. Members consist of classically-trained brothers Sam and Jacob Anderson on cello and viola. On top of Philip Kobernik's accordion, Nick Ward's electric guitar stretching into the distance like an open road, the Dixieland swagger of Patrick Brannon's trumpet. Their hit single, the uptempo "Rio” was recently Song of the Day at NPR, Spinner.com, and KEXP. It's a songwriter's urgent expression via vocalist Matt Bishop, expanded with huge singalong choruses, unraveled by a virtuoso band's sinuous arrangements. It's modern vintage, a folk-pop jam session.

World Cafe Live
  Headliner: Alex Band
  Opening Act: The Once Was
  Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm
  Tix:$21 - 26

Alex Band’s powerful, emotionally charged voice is most recognizable to millions of music lovers, thanks to modern-day classics like “Adrienne,” “Our Lives” and the chart-topping hit “Wherever You Will Go,” from his former band, The Calling. We’ve All Been There, Band’s solo debut from EMI contains the first new material we’ve heard in half a decade. If his fans feel that Band is long overdue for a return to the spotlight, the L.A. native has himself been chompng at the bit to make his return throughout the last five years, which he spent in musical exile. But the time has finally come for that voice to inspire us once again. “I’ve lived with these songs for years,” says Band, “and the whole point is to share them with everybody now.”

Trocadero:
  Headliner: Robyn and Kelis
Opening Act: Dan Black / Far East Movement
  Doors: 7pm / Show: 7:30p,pm

With plans to release 3 new albums in 2010, Robyn has a pretty busy year. Earlier this year she embarked on a goal to have a new album out that will be very personal, like a diary.
In an interview with Stereogum, she states "I think this splitting a full album up into different releases is, in a way, how people listen to music as well. It's more about songs now." In June 2010, the song
"Dancing On My Own" became Robyn's first number one hit in Sweden, and her fourth top ten hit in both the UK and the U.S. She is currently supporting her latest release, " Body Talks" - the 1st of the three albums, with the "All Hearts Tour".

Kelis, The woman behind the hit singles 'Milkshake', 'Trick Me', 'Lil Star' and more recently 'Acapella' and '4th of July' is the co-headliner of this tour. In support of her critically-acclaimed album Flesh Tone which marked her transition to dance and pop music, a different direction from her previous R&B sound. It was a huge success world wide. Kelis has been described as a touch of "Harlem Glamour". Her fans can prepare to make the dance floor burn with her David Guetta produced track, “Scream, " on the set list. Her fifth studio album is set to be released later in 2010 under Interscope Records via the Will.I.Am.Music Group. In between tour dates (and after) Kelis will also be performing solo gigs.

The Susquehanna Bank Center:

  Doors: 6pm / Show: 7pm
  Tix:$10 Lawn; $35 - $85

BACK FOR THEIR 2nd DAY ...

What else can be said of this West coast band who have grown up in front of millions of loyal fans. Their hay day of being a poor kickin' and screamin' trio with punk angst written all over them are still seen from time to time, but they have learned to channel their angst in a more sensible, vocal and ROCK OUT way.  Their repertoire of storytelling protest punk is so dramatic and anthemic it's now on Broadway. Their well inspiring hit musical "American Idiot"  has taken New York by storm and captured a cross over audience. But Green Day is also know to tell the truth without stage embellishment.
