Summer Season Concert Series - Philly Style: May 20th

Johnny Brendas:    Headliner: The Mural and The Mint
Opening Act: Missing Palmer West / Strand of Oaks
  Doors: 8pm / Show: 9pm
  Tix:$10

The Mural and the Mint combines live shows with dance performances with cohorts the Nicole Canuso Dance Company. Their music "dwells on ticklish piano and Kiley’s pretty, near-acrobatic singing, with sharp lyrics that flit from love and fatherhood to gritty city streets. It has been morphing into something new with addition of live drummers and crazy beats!

The North Star Bar:
  Headliner: SexOffice
Opening Act: Stonethrown / Don't Panic
  Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm
  Tix:$8

This hometown band is set to perform their electronica/rock/progressive sound to their local community. They'll make you pump your fist or fill your veins up with pure sounds of rock!!

The Trocadero:
  Headliner: Steel Pulse
Opening Act: Giant Panda Guerrila Dub Squad
  Doors: 8pm / Show: 9pm
  Tix:$27

There is nothing like being in the presence of a vintage Rasta man, David Hinds, Steel Pulse's frontman. He's been the driving, spliff-cheefing force behind the monster reggae act since it formed in the U.K. 35 years ago. Since then, the band has become globally respected for its politically charged, roots reggae, which earned them a Grammy and a huge following. Reggae is important and the love for it seems to be alive and well everywhere.

The Electric Factory:
  Headliner: Dark Star Orchestra
  Opening Act: None Listed
  Doors: 8pm / Show: 8:30pm
  Tix:$27

Grateful Dead musical historians Dark Star Orchestra (DSO) (don’t dare call them a “tribute band”) comes to town to take us another time travel with an always a fun night of heady nostalgia.  It’s quite heartening to see anxious (and surprisingly young!) Dead fans still passing time outside the show just like a vintage Dead show of old.  The band is faring pretty well in the wake of John Kadlecik’s surprising departure.
