The North Star Bar:
     Headliner: Julia Nunes
     Opening Act: Lucas Carpenter
     Doors: 3:30pm / Show: 4pm

Julia Nunes is a singer/songwriter/guitarist hailing from New York and is bringer her mellodic vocal and strumming to Philly. Inspiring sounds that blends her talents for playing the ukulele and guitar with her soothing vocals and a beat that can often only be heard through her strumming. Her lyrics can evoke an emotional sadness through hilarious storytelling. ODD?? Check her out.

World Live Cafe:

     Headliner: Aqualung
     Opening Act: Krista Polvere
     Doors: 6:30pm / Show: 8pm
     Tix:$20 to $25

Matt Hales began writing songs at the age of four and won a music scholarship at 16, and soon saw his classical symphony Life Cycle performed by a 60-piece orchestra. Hales began recording as Aqualung in 2002, and achieved some unexpected early success when his demo of the song "Strange and Beautiful" appeared in a Volkswagen TV commercial and immediately struck a chord with listeners. His tour will bring his "army of one" sounds back to Philly getting fans to watch and hear his tants through the multi-instrumental sounds of his music. Hard to believe, at times, that he is the only one on stage.

Johnny Brenda's:

Headliner: Slo-Mo Feat. Mic Wrecka, Frog Holler
     Opening Act: Wallace Brothers
     Doors: 8pm / Show: 9pm
     Tix:$10
Mike Brenner and Doug Jenkins know they're an unlikely pairing. The guy in the white suit drawing sounds steeped in country and blues from his steel guitar and the dreadlocked MC delivering his poetic rhymes with a cool assuredness and conviction, in perfect flow to the funky grooves laid down by the bassist and two percussionists that flesh out the distinctive sounds of Brenner's lap steel. Throw in the gorgeous, harmonious vocals of Philadelphia favorites Sue Rosetti and Steph Hayes -- both of the now defunct Stargazer Lily -- singer-songwriters and musicians in their own right, and you've got a musical collective more likely to raise eyebrows than enthusiastic thumbs-up approval. They released Gimme What You Got! last fall. last fall.
